A film on the Michelle and Barack Obama is underway. While Tika Sumpter will play the first lady, casting for the US president is yet to be decided

Los Angeles: Producer Glendon Palmer is reportedly making a film 'Southside With You', which is inspired by US President Barack Obama's first date with wife Michelle Obama in 1989. Barack was a young summer associate and his wife was known as lawyer Michelle Robinson back then.

The story follows the couple on a date that took them from the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing to the site of their first kiss outside of an ice cream parlour.
Tika Sumpter will portray Michelle, 51 while casting is underway for the role of Barack, 53. Richard Tanne makes his directorial debut with the project based on his screenplay. Shooting begins in Chicago in August.
