According to Russian whistleblower Sergey Kolesnikov, the still under-construction digs cost more than $1 billion (Rs 456 crore), include an amphitheater and three helipads and is being "predominantly paid for with money donated by Russian businessmen."

Putin's spokesman denied the report, saying that the building has nothing to do with Putin.

The place certainly looks fit for a Romanov, with frescoed ceilings, outdoor maze bushes, marble floors, and four-post beds. Bizarrely, a man who appears to be a construction worker with his face blacked out poses in a number of the shots.

RuLeaks, which was founded on January 14, operates on servers outside the country. The Pirate Party says it is currently looking into the source of the attack.

"The corruption is pervasive, and it is disgraceful and crippling for our great country," Kolesnikov recently wrote to President Medvedev, calling him to pay attention to political corruption which, is worth $250-300 billion.

He called on Medvedev to "show to our entire nation that everyone is equal before the law, even prime ministers."

He suggested that the "palace"may be used to entertain guests during the Winter Olympic Games which will take place in the Russian city of Sochi, on the Black Sea Coast, in 2014.

Movie on Wiki?
A biopic about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is being planned.
The film rights to Australian reporter Andrew Fowler's upcoming biography of Assange, The Most Dangerous Man in the World, have been secured by producers Barry Josephson and Michelle Krumm.
The pair have described the planned film as "a suspenseful drama thriller."
