London: Two pupils have been sent to a local medical facility after at least 27 students in a school in North Yorkshire collapsed on Wednesday morning, Xinhua reported.

"We are aware of two pupils who have attended hospital or a local medical facility. The rest were treated at the scene by ambulance staff," North Yorkshire Police updated on its official website.

The incident occurred between 11:00 and 11: 30 a.m. local time (1100 GMT and 1130 GMT) at the Outwood Academy School in Ripon, a city in north England.

North Yorkshire Police said earlier that they received reports around 12:30 p.m. that a number of students had collapsed at the school and a number of others had taken ill.

"Approximately 27 students have been affected who have displayed signs of sickness and feeling faint," it added. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Ripon and Boroughbridge were at the scene alongside hazardous materials specialist officers.

A specialist detection, identification and monitoring (DIM) team from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was also at the incident to investigate the cause of the incident.
