Mobile chat platform WhatsApp's privacy practices have fallen foul of Canadian and Dutch privacy laws.

Popular mobile chat platform WhatsApp has come under scrutiny as the application requires users to provide their entire contact list to the service.

Canadian and Dutch data protection authorities have argued that WhatsApp, a cross-platform text messaging application, "violates" international privacy laws.
