Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ravi Savant is trying his best to ensure there are no hiccups after completely overhauling MCA's tournament structure.
Savant’s ambitious project is all set to kick off with the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League from September 7.

The emphasis on restructuring the tournaments was to ensure there are equal opportunities for all teams and there are no duplications of similar formats. It will now be a league format with a fixed calendar set well in advance. “Cricket leagues across the world are getting streamlined and professionalised. We also needed a similar system in place.u00a0
We are not undermining the contributions of earlier formats to Mumbai cricket, but we felt the change was a necessity,” Savant said on the sidelines of a meeting with club secretaries and plot holders to discuss and clarify any issues pertaining to the new format.
“Initially there was resistance, but I did not get deterred. In fact, that made us more determined. We could do this because we were convinced that this is for the betterment of our cricket,” added Savant.
