When asked if it was his best-ever innings, Chappell said “Why not? I think his innings is a perfect example of how to play the T20 game. He himself enjoyed his innings thoroughly, which is why he called that his best innings.”

Former India coach and Australian great Greg Chappell heaped praise on Virat Kohli’s astonishing knock of 82 off 53 balls against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. When asked if it was his best-ever innings, Chappell said “Why not? I think his innings is a perfect example of how to play the T20 game. He himself enjoyed his innings thoroughly, which is why he called that his best innings.”

Chappell praised Kohli’s ability to remain calm under immense pressure and get the job done without taking any risks. “He did not take any risks throughout the 20 overs. His two sixes off Haris Rauf in the penultimate over were also proper cricketing shots. Even Hardik Pandya who played a supporting hand from the other end got out slogging in the last over, but Virat never lost his shape,” he said.

Chappell witnessed the marquee clash on TV in his new home in Adelaide, where he spent his childhood. He feels watching a match on TV has its own merits. “One can just analyse the game better sitting at home. You get to see replays from all angles and that doesn’t happen while watching the match in the stadium,” Chappell said. “I might go for the India-Bangladesh match at the Adelaide Oval on November 2,” Chappell signed off.
