Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has urged football fans to support India's under-17 team in the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held from October 6-28 in the country.
"Under-17 (tournament) will have some world-class players playing and I am looking forward to this tournament. A World Cup in any sport is competition at the highest level. Players will not want to give an inch to each other. I was in Rio (Olympics) last August and saw rugby matches featuring women. I never thought it would get so physical. Seventeen in today's world is not young. It is just about the time when you are looking to be competitive. There are boys who stay within their limitation and deliver," Tendulkar said yesterday.
"This is India's greatest opportunity to show our support towards another sport (other than cricket). This is only about taking it to the next level and I am sure spectators won't disappoint us Indians. Let's not disappoint each other. Go out and support those youngsters," added Tendulkar, who was announced as Sony Pictures Networks' India ambassador at a city hotel yesterday.
