We took a sip of a gourmet coffee brand’s carry pack and loved the taste as much as the contraption

Coffee

Chai lovers have pre-mixed tea to fall back on. Split open a plastic wrapper, add hot water and there you have a cup of desi doodhwali meethi chai.

Coffee drinkers have the new filter coffee decoction sachets that are a new addition to the good old instant coffee granules. But what if you want brewed coffee on-the-go? Blue Tokai’s Easy Pour sachets make this possible in four steps and five minutes, and you don’t need a French press or brass filter!

Tear open the sachet and you’ll find inside a sealed, biodegradable filter pre-filled with ground coffee. Place it atop a cup, stretching out the side anchors onto the sides of the cup to hold it in place.

Gradually, pour in a little water to allow the coffee to bloom. Wait for a few seconds, and now pour enough to fill the filter made of food-grade paper. Adjust the steep time according to how you like your coffee. Do this two times and there you have a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

The one from Nachammai Estate is light and tasted best black. The Thogarihunkal Estate and Attikan Estate coffees went well with a dash of milk and sugar. You can store the sachets for six months in a cool dry place without compromising on the flavour.

For: Boxes of 5 and 10 sachets of light to dark roasts for Rs 250 onwards
At: Online and Blue Tokai outlets
