We are celebrating the US-observed National Daiquiri Day today with a list for you to drink up the popular cocktail, served the classic way and with some twists

A la kiwi


If you like your cocktails trumped up with a tropical twist, opt for the kiwi passion daiquiri, a blend of freshly cut kiwi, passion fruit, melon liqueur, and a dash of blue curacao, finished with white rum.
At: Radisson Blu, Mumbai International Airport, Marol Maroshi Road, near Marol Metro Station, Andheri East.
Cost: Rs 750 onwards


It’s a classic


Mixologist Garrimella Vishwanath Venkat AKA Garry, who helms the bar at this reopened eatery keeps it simple and iconic with the classic version of the cocktail — a blend of rum, lime, sugar, and a touch of maraschino cherry liqueur.
At: Napoli by Shatranj, 12 Union Park, 1st Floor, off Carter Road, Khar West.

High on Hemingway

At this new space in SoBo, get your hands on the classic lemon-rum-sugar cocktail or the Hemingway daiquiri with cherry liqueur and freshly pressed grapefruit juice.
At: Nksha Restaurant, ADCB Rehmat Manzil, 1A/1B, Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate.

Reasonably priced and staying true to the classic, this bar offers a no-frills version of the classic daiquiri that’s worth more than its buck.

It’s a tropical sunrise

Bringing us the flavours of Goa, the BKC favourite whips up their tropical daiquiri with white rum, passion fruit purée, coconut syrup, pineapple juice and lime juice. This takes the lemony cocktail up a notch to a new level of refreshing.

Go Asian

With Venezuelan rum, plum umeshu, lime, orange marmalade, and vanilla chilli sugar, sip on the Asian daiquiri — a sweet and citrusy twist to this fantastic Cuban drink.

Our way

This Dadar adda brings a simple twist to the classic with an option of seasonal fruit as a generous garnishing. Have it your way, with or without topped fruit.

Keep it simple, silly

Mixologist Garrimella Vishwanath Venkat shares his recipe for a quick, easy and classic daiquiri. 

Ingredients
>> 60 ml rum
>> 12.5 ml maraschino cherry liqueur
>> 25 ml lime juice
>> 10 ml sugar syrup

Method
Pour the sugar syrup and freshly squeezed lime juice into a cocktail shaker and stir until the sugar and lime juice mix well. Add the rum and maraschino cherry liqueur. Place the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously. Don’t forget to double-strain. Garnish with a maraschino black cherry and your cocktail is ready to drink. Cheers!

Mixologist Jishnu AJ’s version of the daiquiri at this SoBo haunt called white raan includes freshly-muddled cumin and curry leaves, clarified coconut milk, whey and white rum

the country.
