Foodizm might be a 'healthy religion', but devotion will cost you. The Guide hopes that the health food service that's set to launch soon, works on its sex appeal fast

Foodizm is the latest to join the list of diet dabba services in the city. The promise is to deliver low-cal, zero-oil, balanced Indian and International (veg and non-veg) meals to the health conscious consumer.

Mexican Corn Salad,Lentil Soup,Cottage Cheese Basilico,
Balsamic Roasted Veggies,Brown Rice

Meals are packaged in disposable microwaveable trays. A plastic spoon and fork, wrapped inside a paper napkin, is slipped inside the sleeve that accompanies the meal. Our trial meal (International Veg meal for Rs 179) had Lentil Soup, Mexican Corn Salad, Cottage Cheese Basilico, Balsamic Roasted Veggies and Brown Rice.

No eye candy
The meal scored low on eye appeal. The broccoli and cauliflower florets in the Balsamic Vegetables looked limp, and the chunks of cottage cheese coated in what appeared to be a basil pesto sauce looked dry.

The good news is that the food tasted better than it looked. The roasted veggies carried just the right hint of sourness, courtesy the Balsamic vinegar, and the paneer chunks were rubbery, but still flavourful.

Did you say dal?
We were a little baffled by why they would serve rice minus a gravy dish, unless they expected us to have it with the lentil soup (Oh wait! They did! Oops!). The corn kernels in the salad were juicy and tasted good. Despite what initially seemed like meagre portions, the food was filling and flavourful.

The guys behind Foodizm are still working out the logistics of the service and hope to launch within a week's time. Once they have that in place, they hope to include a nutrition break down of each meal.

The next challenge for them, given that we eat with our eyes first, and compounded by prices that veer on the steep side (Rs 169 for an Indian non-veg meal and Rs 249 for an International non-veg meal), will be working on the sex appeal of its dishes. Limp veggies and pale lentil soup won't cut it, even if it might help cut the flab.
