The Shivajinagar court, taking cognisance of the applicant Chandrakant Gundgar's pleas, has named Ajit Pawar and his wife Sunetra Pawar as the second and third respondents respectively, in the alleged land purchase case at Ghotawade village in Pune. The case is related to the construction of Ajit Pawar's opulent palace near the Mula river basin.

Gundgar said that he had gone to court regarding the illegal sale of his 12 acres of land in the Ghotawade village, by one Chandrakant Tapkir. Further inquiry revealed that the land was sold to Sunetra, wife of Ajit Pawar, for the construction of a lavish mansion for the couple in the Ghotawade village near the Mula River basin.

Tapkir had stated that not only was his land sold to Pawar, he was also being threatened to stay off the case. The court took cognisance of the plea and made the Pawar couple respondents in the case. The mansion was constructed two years ago, allegedly with sand from the Mula River banks. Various water sports activities were planned in the area. Pawar, however, refuted the charges and stated he had nothing to do with the unlawful transactions.
