The central government has sought a report from the Jammu and Kashmir government over the communal violence in Kishtwar town, Minister of State for Home Affairs R.P.N. Singh said Monday.

"We are in constant touch with the Jammu and Kashmir government and are seeking a report from them," Singh told reporters.

He said the state government had been told to arrest all those involved in Friday's violence in Kishtwar that claimed at least two lives "so that normalcy (returns) in Jammu and regions adjoining it".

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said the state government should explain the circumstances under which Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley was prevented from going to Kishtwar Sunday.

"I do not know why he (Jaitley) went there," he added.

He added that it was unfortunate that the incident was getting politicised.

"I would urge parties not to politicise the issue and work in harmony with the state government, which is working to resolve the matter and see that peace is restored," he told a news channel.
