With violent crimes being reported every other day in the city, private security firms have reported a rise in their clientele compared to the same time last year. While the Bangalore police say there has been a fall in heinous crimes compared to last year.

Ananth Kumar, General Manager of V K Security Services, said, "Our residential clients have increased by 40 per cent in the last year and most of them are worried about their homes being robbed."

Damodar Shetty, CEO, Security and Manpower Services, said, "Our clientele has increased by 25 per cent." He added, "Everyday security is a concern and it has drastically increased in areas like BTM Layout, Bannerghatta Road and Jayanagar."

However, Kumar wasn't quick to give credit to the security firms for the fall in crime.

He said, "These firms have nothing to do with it, they keep coming up. But crime is down because detection has gone up and that leads to prevention."
