Ahead of the Commonwealth Games, policing in the satellite town goes hip, gets its own PCR vans

Residents in Noida would feel a bit safer while on the road as well as in their homes. The satellite town is going to redefine policing, as it is all set to become the first state in Uttar Pradesh to have its own Police Control Room (PCR) vans.

Noida administration had decided to start a PCR service in keeping with the technological enhancement of the police ahead of the Commonwealth games.

As soon a call will be made the PCR vans will be coordinated by the control room and they would rush to the spot for immediate action. They would later handover the case to the police station under which the jurisdiction lies.

A long list of technological advancement was proposed by Noida police before the commonwealth games and PCR service among first of service going live in January.

To start with there would be 32 PCR vans. Three police officers, including an Inspector and two constables will be deployed with each PCR van. The vehicles will have two registers one for their daily routine and the other for recording calls and complaints. The vans will directly report to the control room, instead of police stations.

To make the system more efficient, the control room for the PCR vans will not be installed at the main control room at sector 14-A. A new unit at Surajpur will be made to handle the vans. All the PCR vans will be stationed at important places, each covering four sectors.

Police have marked 43 inspectors, 21 HSPs and 128 constables who will under go training of three days before being deployed on the PCR vans. They will be trained to handle car, receive and report calls and handle riot like situations.

"To respond to public grievance immediately is our job and to make it more effective we are starting PCR service which is the first in the state. To start with there would be 32 PCR vans. It is part of the upgradation of police force ahead of the Commonwealth games," said AK Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida.
