Indulge in Pan-Asian pampering and grand gyozas when at the newly-opened Taman Gang in South Delhi
Taman Gang means 'park lane' in Balinese. In Delhi, however, it means the coming of leading diners from different parts of the world. The London-based chain has thrown open the doors to its first outlet in the city, tucked in a plush corner of Vasant Kunj. The place gives out wonderful vibes, both in terms of food and ambience. We give out more on it.
Food
The restaurant boasts of some exceptional Pan Asian fusion delicacies created by international master chef Ricky Pang. We started our gastronomical journey with Pan-fried waterchestnut and aubergine gyoza (Rs 350), satay chicken skewers (Rs 525) and sanchoba chicken lettuce wrap (RS 400). The gyozas, or dimsums that are fried and then steamed, were unique and unmatched. The skewers also get a thumbs-up, but it is unarguably the lettuce wrap that tops our report card. In main course, we opted for chargrilled kim chi chicken (Rs 610), stir fried sole fillet (Rs 650) with fried rice and noodles. In this section, we preferred the chicken to the fish.
The vegetarians have lots to choose from. There's pan-fried stuffed mushroom (Rs 525), veg mock fish (Rs 575), crispy silken tofu (Rs 525) and sizzling mix vegetables (Rs 550). For those who have love sushi, the options vary from asparagus and avocado inside maki (Rs 400), 'Kappa' cucumber maki (Rs 350) and sweet corn maki (Rs 350) to California tiger prawn maki (Rs 450).
In desserts, our vote goes to chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream (Rs 400) and waterchestnut with coconut milk (Rs 375). Both were simply sinful.
Drinks
The place got its liquor license just a week back, and the drink menu is diverse, with an enormous number of spirits and brands. For the not so adventurous,u00a0 there are many mocktails, like Fruity Swirl (Rs 180), Dream Sky (Rs 175), Taman Gang Warrior (Rs 210) and Tropical green (Rs 180), to name a few.
Ambience
Spread over an area of 6,000 square feet, the restaurant has separate lounge and dining zones. While the lounge can accommodate 38 persons, the dining area can accommodate 72.u00a0 Taman Gang welcomes its guests with a candlelit entrance before taking them into the grand inside, where glass figurines, decorative woods and red Oriental lamps add to the pleasure. There's also the private dining space where you can cosy up with your loved one. Bon Balinese.
