Last morning, a huge crowd congregated at the grievance centres set up in the two colleges and about 150 of them filled the grievance slips at each of the colleges. Professors at the centres said that a majority of them were confused because of the of the mark sheets that were issued to them minus the additional 25 marks given for sports.
"Actually when the forms were being filled up, many students had the old mark sheets. These did not reflect the 25 marks given to students for sports. Recently, they got new mark sheets and their total marks have increased by 25 marks. This means their ranking should go up. That's why we received lots of applications like that," said D C Nevse, deputy director of professional education department.
Besides, students also complained that despite having requisite marks their names did not appear on the merit list or they were ranked low. "My daughter has the required percentage but her name is not on the list. I came here to fill the grievance slips, but forgot to get a copy of the mark sheet so I am rushing to do that," said a parent.
Two students from Kolhapur were arguing with the grievance cell staff members claiming that their friend deserved better ranking than the one displayed. "She had opted for a technical subject in Std X and the marks in that subject should have been considered. Had that happened, her ranking would be better. They gave preference to other students and she has been left out," said the student. Today the final merit list for bifocal science admissions would be displayed at Fergusson College at 1 pm.
