Celebrated playwright Girish Karnad loved the pot shots MiD DAY took at his expense last week.
Vinod's pictures with speech bubbles written by chief sub-editor Calvin Santo Ma showed one of India's most famous literary intellectuals gobbling samosa after samosa.
Potshots is an occasional photo feature that uses a picture sequence and witty speech bubbles. Last week's feature was filed by Vinod Kumar who shot Karnad inaugurating a cartoonists' exhibition.

Many thought the pictures and speech bubbles were unflattering, but Karnad has appreciated the cheeky humour and the fun spirit of the feature.
In a gesture that left the MiD DAY team pleasantly surprised, Karnad told Vinod:
"More power to your elbow."
The handwritten letter came by snail mail to MiD DAY yesterday.
u00a0"This is an honour," Vinod said, waving the letter proudly. "Wow, indeed it is!" Calvin chimed in.
Karnad acts in theatre and films, writes in Kannada and English, and is ranked among India's greatest living writers. He has received several national awards, including the Jnanpith.
Thank you for your kind words, sir.
