Railway Minister to launch week-long drive to showcase achievements

Ministry of Railways will launch a week-long celebration kicking off on Thursday to highlight its achievements in the last two years under the BJP-led NDA government.


During the 'Rail Hamsafar Saptah' every day of the week will be marked with a particular theme, Central Railway said in a statement issued here today.


"While the first day (of the Saptah) tomorrow would be celebrated as 'Swachchta Diwas', May 27 as 'Satkar Diwas', May 28 as 'Sewa Diwas', May 29 as 'Satarkata Diwas', May 30 as 'Saamanjasya Diwas', May 31 as 'Sanyojan Diwas' and the concluding day June 1 as 'Sanchaar Diwas'," it stated.


On 'Swachchata Diwas' cleanliness drive will be arranged at various stations and on various trains, while on 'Satkaar Diwas' officers would be deputed to inspect catering establishments and drinking water facilities at various stations and in trains to ensure that trains having pantry cars are inspected and catering units at stations are checked.

"On 'Sewa Diwas' each train would be monitored by an officer between 10 am to 4 pm and nominated officers would travel by these trains and interact with passengers in all classes. On 'Satarkata Diwas', punctuality and ticket checking drive would be undertaken," according to the release.

It further stated that a day-long exercise would be undertaken on 'Saamanjasya Diwas' wherein teams of concerned officers would inspect railway staff colonies along with representatives of recognised unions to undertake cleanliness drive in the colonies and also for their upkeep and maintenance.

As per Central Railways, meetings and seminars with major freight traffic customers will be held on 'Sanyojan Diwas' to advise them about the various reforms and policy initiatives, while the review of various activities would be taken to disseminate various achievements of railways on the concluding day 'Sanchaar Diwas'.
