This could be called the country's first-ever virtual school. A collection of DVDs for SSC students, myEshala, was launched by MP Supriya Sule at the Millennium National School on yesterday.
A learning tool developed by the Pragatipath Educational Foundation, myEshala will allow students to study through DVDs, making studies more interesting. The DVDs are available for all subjects for students from Std III to VI.
Nikhil Karkare, spokesperson from Millennium National School, said, "We have been following the format for the past year and have received tremendous response from the students. Their participation level has gone up, as has their performance."
Supriya Sule said computers were a great tool that opened doors to all forms of education.
The DVDs contain videos, graphics, interviews, animation and lectures. The myEshala set comprises lesson-by-lesson videos of all subjects offered in accordance with the state education board curriculum, including maths, science, history, geography, English and grammar. The lectures have been designed and scripted by a young, highly educated team of professionals who took a year-and-half to create myEshala.
The inauguration function was attended by Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade, chairman of the SSC Board Vijaysheela Sardesai, Member of Legislative Assembly Ramesh Wanjale and managing trustee of the Pragatipath Educational Foundation Dr Sudheer Phatak.
The school authorities are now working on including Std IX and X for next year.
