Marathi actors' body decries drunken revelry of artistes that led to eight arrests, says it will take stern action against those involved in such misdemeanours

Mincing no words, Prasad Surve, president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM), said such "public shows" would not be tolerated and the forthcoming films of those involved in the melodrama would not be given the no-objection (NOC) certificates, mandatory for their release.u00a0
The eight men were booked under section 112 and 117 of Bombay Police Act for creating nuisance near Mehendale Garage at Erandawane during the wee hours of Sunday. They were released after seeking bail on the condition of furnishing personal bond of Rs 3,000 each. The police said that four women were also among the revellers, including television actress Sai Tamhankar.
The entire incident was allegedly hushed up by senior people in the Marathi film and television industry.
Surve said quick bucks and fame accrued at a young age through performances in serials were spoiling the actors.
"As president of the ABMCM, we all condemn the incident and shall not tolerate such nonsense in the future. Marathi and Maharashtrian culture is known for temperance and modesty of style and these youngsters are spoiling this image," he said.
No NOC
Surve said that the ABMCM would not furnish the NOC to a film producer unless all the cast and crew of the production were members of the body. "The actresses in the group shall not be excluded from the new rule," he said. Akshay Dutt, actor and director, said the incident was shameful and hurt the sentiments of the of Marathi audience. "These youngsters should understand that this is not Bollywood. In fact, young celebrities should be more responsible in public places."

In my opinion they should behave in a proper manner at public places and should not do something which may tarnish their public image. Celebrities should not forget that they have a responsibility towards the society and to their fans too.

Yes, the celebrities should behave in properly when they are in public. The celebrities should know that they are not ordinary figures and their activities are closely observed by both the media and their fans. Any unpleasant activity can disappoint the fans.
