Dahi handi winner to be gifted 5.6-ft-tall trophy by Tarun Ashok Mandal

The dahi handi fever has gripped the city and Tarun Ashok Mandal does not want to be left behind.

They have designed the tallest trophy in the city for the winner. Noted mural artist Viththal Gire has been working on the 5-feet, 6-inches tall trophy for the last three months.

'Work of art'
"The trophy is a work of art and I have blended modern and traditional designs on it. An image of Lord Krishna will be engraved on it," said Gire.u00a0

Local businessman Lalit Jain has sponsored the trophy, which costs Rs 18,000.

Sanjay Taware, president of Tarun Ashok Mandal Trust, Budhwar Peth, who had initiated the idea, said: "The fiberglass and attractive stones give it a rich look. We are breaking our past record of 4-feet high trophy. We make a new trophy every year and it gives us great creative satisfaction."
